Third Rate Productions
About Third Rate Productions
Curious about us?
Third Rate Productions was born out of the idea that making short films, videos, and promotional content should be available to anyone without letting the constraints of a budget, equipment availability, software, scripts, etc. stop you. It is our goal to produce promotional content for small businesses, short films, and full-length films using as much local talent as possible. We have found that the arts is a close-knit community full of fantastic, generous, and able-bodied people. There is always a way to produce what you need utilizing the talent and resources available to you. The mission of Third Rate Productions is to build community strength using local resources.

Who are we?
We may be small, but we are small mighty. Meet our team!

Founder of TRP
Laura Edmundson
Laura's experience comes mainly from her time in Houston area theater in which she wore many hats - actor, director, set designer, stage manager, and writer, to name a few. After earning her degree in creative writing from University of Houston - Victoria, she began to concentrate on playwriting and screenwriting. She found a need amongst fellow writers for a better platform to showcase their writing, and Third Rate Productions was born.
Laura decided to concentrate her efforts on smalls businesses, individuals, and non-profits as they are the ones most often overlooked. Small businesses are the backbones of our communities and need our support the most.
Laura is also a proud mother of three children, a native Texan, and could not be more excited for her tiny company to start showcasing others' talents.
Why Third Rate?
According to Laura
In 2003, I sold my first dinner theater show. My parents always supported my "theater habit" and my dad volunteered to be in the dinner theater show. There was a running joke that the show was a "Third Rate Production" of a "Second Hand Players" show of a "First...". I forget now what we used for the number one. However, I always loved "Third Rate Productions". At the time, I wanted to have a theater troupe or company and call ourselves by that name. As I got older, I was able to narrow down my thoughts and ideas and Third Rate Productions became what it is today.
